Industrial Chiller Price in India

Why two '10 TR chillers' can differ in price by 3×, what the typical market ranges are, and how to get a quotation you can compare fairly.

There is no single price for a chiller. Cost is driven mainly by the cooling capacity at your actual temperature, the compressor and condenser type, materials, controls and scope of supply. The ranges below are indicative market ranges seen on Indian B2B listings in 2026 for standard units, ex-works and before GST — use them for budgeting, then ask for a proper quotation.

Indicative market ranges (India, 2026)

Chiller typeTypical sizeIndicative market range*
Small air cooled water chiller (scroll / reciprocating)1–5 TR≈ ₹50,000 – ₹2.5 lakh per unit
Air cooled scroll process chiller5–30 TR≈ ₹25,000 – ₹45,000 per TR
Water cooled scroll / screw chiller30–300 TR≈ ₹15,000 – ₹30,000 per TR
Air cooled screw chiller40–500 TR≈ ₹20,000 – ₹35,000 per TR
Brine / glycol chiller (0 °C to −40 °C)1–500 TR1.5× – 3× the per-TR price of a water chiller

Why low-temperature chillers cost more per TR

A compressor's cooling capacity falls steeply as the evaporating temperature drops. The same compressor that gives 30 TR on +7 °C chilled water may give well under half that on −20 °C brine, so a low-temperature chiller needs a larger compressor, larger heat exchangers and often stainless steel — for the same tonnage at the process.

What drives the final quotation

  • Capacity at your set point — always compare TR at the same outlet temperature and ambient.
  • Compressor — scroll, reciprocating or screw; semi-hermetic vs open; compressor brand.
  • Condenser — air cooled (no cooling tower) vs water cooled (lower running cost, needs tower and pumps).
  • Evaporator & materials — shell-and-tube vs brazed plate; CS vs SS for corrosive brines.
  • Controls — PID, PLC or microprocessor; VFD or soft starter; remote monitoring.
  • Scope — pumps, tank, piping, installation, commissioning, AMC.

Running cost matters more than purchase price

A process chiller running 20 hours a day spends more on electricity in two to three years than it cost to buy. Compare kW per TR at your operating point, not just the capital price.
